This blog is dedicated to the women that wax lyrical about music, hold solo bedroom discos and can’t pass by a record shop without a nosey through the racks.
Hi. My name is Alice. I’m a 23 year old self-confessed anorak; I love records, hi-fi and dancing around my room to David Bowie’s Young Americans. So far, life has taken me from London to Leeds, via Montreal, Canada, and back again. I now live in South East London with my two speakers and my adorable turntable.
I’ve been passionate about all things music-related since my early teens, picking up records from street markets, fairs and record shops. I’m also a bit of a hi-fi freak, having most recently bitten off a little more than I can chew with a pair of speakers that could safely hold both me and my Bob Dylan stash of wax inside without warping either of us. They are, quite literally, my everest.
But there’s just one question that has been hounding me for a while now: where are all the women in this world of records and hi-fi? We don’t seem to be taken seriously at all in this boy’s club.
And so, I’m on a mission to find out where all the girls are hiding out, and find me a new amplifier whilst I’m at it. If you have any suggestions for powering a pair of Celestion Ditton 66s, I would be most grateful to hear it.
